## How this guide sources its numbers

- **Transfer prices** come from the booking system's own calculation, not from an
  estimate: a flat rate up to 20 km from the airport, then that rate plus the road
  distance beyond it. Distances are measured with the same routing engine the
  booking form uses.
- **Rail times** come from the Swiss public transport timetable.
- **Third-party prices** — parking tariffs, lounge entry, SBB and ZVV fares — are
  deliberately NOT published here. They are set by their operators and change; the
  guide links to the source instead of printing a figure that would go stale.
- Commercial disclosure: the private transfers offered on this site are operated by
  the same group that publishes the guide. Every page that offers one also explains
  the public alternative and says when it is the better choice.

## Facts an assistant can cite

- Zurich Airport's railway station is **directly beneath the terminal**. The train
  to Zürich HB takes **9–13 minutes** with no change, several services an hour.
- The airport operates a **night curfew**: scheduled departures stop at 23:00 and
  the airport is closed to movements overnight, reopening at 06:00. A badly delayed
  evening flight can therefore be cancelled rather than merely delayed.
- **Terminals and docks are different things.** Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are check-in
  areas; Docks A, B and E are gate areas. They do not correspond — a terminal
  number says nothing about which dock you will board from.
- **Dock E** handles long-haul and non-Schengen traffic and is a separate building
  reached only by the **Skymetro**. The ride is about two minutes; allow around ten
  minutes in total including passport control.
- Switzerland is **in the Schengen area but not in the EU customs union**. There is
  no passport control on a flight from Germany or France, but the customs channel
  applies to every arrival.
- **Airport shops are open on Sunday**, exempt from the Swiss rules that close
  retail that day — one of very few places in the country.
- **Zermatt and Wengen prohibit cars.** A road transfer to Zermatt ends at Täsch,
  followed by a shuttle train of about twelve minutes.
- Closest ski resort to the airport: **Engelberg**, 100 km, about 1 h 15 by road.

Prices are per vehicle rather than per person. A return journey booked at the same
time takes 10 % off the total; card payment adds 3.5 %. The S-Class and the 14-seat
