The three changes matter here. Two hours fifteen by rail looks close to the road time, but it is reached through three separate connections ending with a bus up to the village. With snowboards, that is three handovers in boots. Of all the resorts on this site, Laax is where the case for the car is most clear-cut relative to the time saved.
Laax, Flims, Falera
The area markets itself as Laax but covers three villages sharing one lift network: Laax, Flims and Falera. Flims sits lower and is the largest settlement; Laax has the modern base at Laax Murschetg where most of the freestyle scene is concentrated; Falera is the smallest and quietest.
The skiing reaches the Vorab glacier at just under 3,000 m, which gives the area a longer and more reliable season than its road-accessible convenience would suggest.
Freestyle
This is what Laax is known for. The area maintains several parks of graded difficulty and an indoor freestyle facility, and it hosts World Cup-level snowboard and freeski competitions. If your trip is built around park riding rather than long descents, this is the destination in Graubünden.
It also means the resort feels different from Davos or St. Moritz — younger, more informal, less concerned with tradition.
Summer
The transfer price is identical in July and the drive is faster. Flims and Laax run one of the largest bike parks in the Alps, with lift-served descents and a trail network across the plateau. The Caumasee, a striking turquoise lake below Flims, is one of the region’s best-known summer spots.
