Three changes ending in a bus is what tips this one towards the car. The rail journey is only twenty-six minutes slower on paper, but the last leg is a postbus from Chur with your skis, and postbus luggage space is not generous.
The skiing
Lenzerheide’s terrain divides across two mountains facing each other over the plateau. The Rothorn side rises to around 2,865 m and carries the link to Arosa; the Danis-Stätzerhorn side opposite is gentler and catches the afternoon sun.
The combined Arosa Lenzerheide network is large enough that a week does not exhaust it, and the two halves have genuinely different characters — Arosa higher and more compact, Lenzerheide broader and more open.
The plateau setting also means the resort is unusually good for cross-country skiing and for anyone who wants to walk rather than ski: the valley floor is flat, which is rare.
Summer
